3 Tips For Choosing Clothes When You’re Carrying A Concealed Firearm

2 min read

While your way of life is always going to have some bearing on the types of clothes that you wear, if you’re someone who is committed to carrying a concealed firearm with you at all times, one of your main priorities for your clothing will be to be safe and comfortable while doing this. So to help you in finding the right clothing for these purposes, here are three tips for choosing clothes when you’re carrying a concealed firearm

Know Which Holster You Prefer

Before you even start thinking about the clothes that you’re going to wear, you first need to determine what type of holster you prefer to keep your firearm in. Without this knowledge, you can’t know what features of clothes you should be on the lookout for.

Depending on where you plan to keep your firearm on your body and what type of holster you’re going to be using, you’ll want to make sure that you don’t choose clothes that are going to be too tight on that area. While having clothes that are fitted correctly can help to give you additional support and coverage for the area where your firearm is holstered, you don’t want your clothes to be too tight there so that your firearm becomes exposed or that it’s too hard for you to have easy access to that area

Dress In Layers

For those choosing to holster their concealed firearm on their waist, back, or shoulders, one style that you might want to embrace is layers.

By laying your clothes, you can wear clothing on the bottom layer that makes you more comfortable with your holster, like a more fitted shirt, while also having a little more separation between your holster and those around you. This way, you won’t have to be so worried about someone seeing your firearm or even being able to tell that you have a concealed firearm on you, since the layers you’re wearing will hide it well.

Meet With A Tailor

If you’re planning on wearing your holster under your waistband, one thing you’re going to want to do is meet with a tailor. While many people choose to just buy clothes that fit them already, if you have some special considerations, like wanting your pants to fit comfortably with a holster attached to the waistband, you may need to get your pants tailored specifically to your body and the holster you’ll be using. Then, when you’re carrying, you can be much more comfortable and know that your firearm is safe and secure.

If you’re carrying a concealed firearm and have had trouble finding clothes that serve you well when you’re carrying, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you make some alterations to your wardrobe.
