Being invited to a wedding is an honour and a privilege. It is also an opportunity to dress up and look your best. However, while there are certain things you should wear as a guest, it is important to remember that there are certain things that you should not wear to a wedding.

Jeans

Jeans are firmly in the casual wear category,  and for good reason. They are comfortable, easy to wear and go with everything. However, jeans are not appropriate for a wedding.

White

So, what should you wear? You could go for a pretty pastel, or even a bold colour if you want to make a statement. Just make sure it’s not white.

But, there are exceptions to this rule. If it’s an all white wedding for instance, then it’s perfectly alright for you as a guest to wear white. Or, if you know for sure the bride is not wearing a white dress, then you’re in the clear as well.

Athletic Wear

Athletic wear, like yoga pants or sweats, is another huge no for wedding guests. Even if the wedding is taking place at a casual venue, like a backyard or a park, it is still important to wear something appropriately dressy.

Instead of wearing your athletic wear, try a nice pair of shorts or a flowing skirt. You’ll be comfortable and stylish at the same time.

Stiletto Heels

While it’s important to dress up for a wedding, that doesn’t mean you need to be uncomfortable. And, there is nothing worse than being uncomfortable in a pair of shoes. 

So, while you may be tempted to wear a pair of stiletto heels, think again as they can get uncomfortable very quickly. Especially if you’re part of the bridal party. Instead, opt for a pair of shoes that you know you can dance in and walk in without pain, like a pair of wedges or ballet flats.
